Bindings crack and pages crackle,
Timeworn, breaking, as the sun
Bright and beaming burns the paper
In glass-fired amber vapor,
Faded flowers come undone.
Iris iridescent inkling
Stains the parchment purple-blue,
Drops of dew like nectar's echo
Dot the paper dark and speckled,
Indigo and amber hue.
Scrapbooked in the sunny setting,
Seedless petals gasp for rain,
Curling edges breathe intentions,
Rise from two to three dimensions,
Plucked and pressed they yet remain.
Amber dandelion weeded,
Wish now withered into blur,
Soft the summer seed-tops wisping,
Crumbled dust now gently lisping,
Lion's roar an exhale purr.
